Navigation methods on our self-guided tours
Coming to Estonia and choosing one of our self-guided cycling trips on https://citybike.ee/tours/self-guided You can get one of the following navigation options! We will send navigation info well in advance, after you have booked your tour and start planning your tour in detail.
GPX files: Versatile and Easy to Use
If you worked with GPX files before you know how to upload them to your device.
One of the most flexible ways to navigate your cycling route is by using GPX tracks. These digital files contain detailed route information, including paths, distances, and turns, and can be easily uploaded to most navigation apps or GPS devices. It is a file like CyclingWestonia.gpx or for more advanced users .fit files
The great thing about GPX tracks is their versatility – you can use them across multiple platforms, whether you’re using a smartphone, a dedicated GPS unit, or a bike computer. They provide you with detailed, turn-by-turn directions, which makes your ride smooth and stress-free.
Downside to GPX file format is that POI’s do not come with you (as they are in Ride With GPS or Navicup)!
Ride With GPS: Prepared Routes with Points of Interest
Another excellent navigation option for cyclists is the Ride With GPS app. Our prepared routes also include POI’s from local landmarks to scenic spots. These routes allow cyclists to explore the best of what each area has to offer while keeping their navigation straightforward. The best part of the app is turn by turn instructions.
Ride With GPS app you can use on your phone and without paid subscription (we will send you details about joining our CYCLEST – Cycling Estonia community).
Navicup: A Unique Audio Guide for City Cycling
For those looking for a more interactive and audio-guided experience, the Navicup app is a fantastic option. Developed in Estonia. You can use Navicup as an audio guide, providing cyclists with detailed, voice-based instructions along their route. Navicup keeps you informed of important landmarks, historical sites and interesting facts.
Our chosen POI’s tend to include images, opening hours, ticket info and external links. POI’s can be individual locations or larger areas, and upon entering these areas, the app will automatically start providing information. We can also set up alerts to warn cyclists about potentially dangerous sections of the route, enhancing safety and awareness.
Downside of Navicup is that they do not provide turn by turn navigation (yet) and you have to follow the line.
CYCLEST Welcome Centre: old-school maps and guides
For those who prefer a more tactile experience, our CYCLEST Welcome Centre offers traditional paper maps that are still a fantastic resource for navigation. These maps cover various counties and feature detailed points of interest that cyclists will find useful. While digital tools are incredibly handy, there’s something special about unfolding a physical map and navigating by hand.
Our CYCLEST Welcome Centre is open during office hours, which are 10AM – 7PM during the summer season and 10AM – 6PM during the off-season.
You can stop by to read the map, ask for advice or simply explore the local area on your own.
Routes are never 100% ready! Live testing and route corrections
Once a route is made, we put it to the test by cycling it ourselves again, ensuring that everything functions as expected. We monitor how it feels in real-time, identify any necessary corrections and adjust accordingly. Based on customer feedback, we update the information in the app/tracks, sometimes making daily changes to ensure the most accurate experience for riders.
Your feedback matters: helping us improve
At City Bike we value your experience and encourage constructive feedback on the routes we offer. As we continue to refine our services and create new routes, your input is crucial in helping us ensure that we’re providing the best possible navigation solutions for cyclists. Whether it’s suggestions for improvement or feedback on existing routes, we’re always ready to hear from you.
